Pronouns she/her

In my practice, I reference the fake, corn syrupy kind of violence, that often occurs in bad horror movies. I examine horror through a feminist lens and complicate some of the common critiques leveled against the genre. The way that we often speak about violence manifests in “top down” language- as in they keep making violent movies. My argument is that if the market for this content didn’t exist- they wouldn’t make it. I invite viewers to consider their role in the consumption of fictionalized violence and to reflect on the possibilities of this often maligned genre serve them. Can violence, when it's divorced from harm and consequence, be fun and exciting? The work manifests in different forms, displacing the experience of the screen into an art context.

I received my Bachelor of Fine Art in sculpture from The Pennsylvania State University in 2015. I’m currently finishing my MFA from the Stamps School of Art and Design at the University of Michigan. My practice is based out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where I live with my two cats Cheese and Pancake, dog Dusty Bottoms and person, Sidney Church and our son Evert.
